A model enthusiasts' club triumphed at an annual exhibition of robots, trains and planes.

Hundreds of people attended the recent London Model Engineering Exhibition at Alexandra Palace, Haringey, to view collectors’ displays of traditional and modern models.

The Harrow and Wembley Society of Model Engineers won the Society Shield, beating 55 other clubs and societies.

More than 1,500 models were on display, including four railway layouts and a five-inch gauge steam locomotive offering passenger rides.

Exhibition manager Avril Spence, said: “Our thanks to so many exhibitors both from the clubs and societies and also the specialist suppliers for making this event such a success.

“We were delighted to have been able to showcase all forms of modelling on BBC 1's The One Show."
