Bexley police are urging residents to help stop crime in their area.

Crime-conscious residents are asked to take advantage of a drive to recruit more Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators.

Officers from the local Safer Neighbourhoods Teams in the Sidcup and the Blendon & Penhill wards of the borough are holding a monthly Roadshow to recruit co-ordinators.

The first Roadshow will take place at Banana Garden, 17 The Oval, Bexley DA15 9ER, on January 22 from 9am - 2pm.

Sergeant Mark Rudd said: “Community spirit and good relations are principles at the heart of Neighbourhood Watch.

"Neighbourhood Watch aims to bring local people closer together who share common goals' to tackle crime and disorder and to keep an eye on each other's property.

“We can all play our part in keeping Bexley a safe and pleasant place in which to live, work or visit and I’d urge residents to join their local Neighbourhood Watch Scheme or assist us in setting one up if they don’t have one in their area.

"By working in partnership, we can make Bexley even safer”.
