A woman who is looking forward to her 100th birthday has been described as “remarkable”.
Jane Gladding, who lives in Rectory Close Sheltered Housing, in Hendon Lane, was surrounded by her friends and family at a party last week.
Mrs Gladding was born in Sydney Road, Muswell Hill, where she grew up, before moving to Pembroke Road with her husband.
Now a great-grandmother, she worked at the family greengrocers Gladdings, in Muswell Hill, before moving to Rectory Close 19 years ago.
Her daughter, Vera Freeman, said: “She’s pretty amazing for her age. She’s still got all her faculties and her standards haven’t dropped.
“She still looks after herself. For 100, she is immaculate, she’s remarkable.
“I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive about the party because she doesn’t like being in the limelight, but she told me how much she enjoyed it.”
Mrs Gladding is the last of her five brothers and sisters remaining. Her birthday will be on December 31.
