Health services in Enfield will receive one of the biggest budget increases in the NHS

Enfield Clinical Commissioning Group's allocation will rise to £360,706,000 in 2015/16 autumn statement.

The 7.1 per cent increase is one of the biggest of any clinical commissioning group, the GP-run bodies that pay for healthcare.

Nick de Bois, MP for Enfield North, welcomed the increased allocation which is five per cent above inflation.

He said: "We have campaigned for such a move, and I am pleased with this decision which comes after years of underfunding from Enfield going back as far as 2001 when Labour failed to allocate fair funding to Enfield.

"We have only been able to do this because of the success of our long term economic plan. The bottom line is we cannot have a strong NHS without a strong economy, and these allocations show what that means here in Enfield."

David Burrowes, MP for Enfield Southgate, said: “I am pleased that Enfield is at last getting its fair slice of the cake with one of the highest allocations in London.

“This good news is really welcome on the back of the announcement of increased urgent care and £260 million investment in Chase Farm Hospital."

A spokesman for Enfield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said: “We are pleased that the funding allocations from NHS England will result in an above inflationary increase in budget for Enfield CCG.

"This increase (from April 2015) will allow us to continue with our plans to improve local health services and ensure that the services we commission are designed and delivered around the needs of our patients.

"This news comes alongside the recent announcement that the Urgent Care Centre at Chase Farm Hospital will have extended opening hours of 8am to 10pm, seven days a week from late December 2014 ensuring the residents of Enfield receive the right care, at the right time, and in the right place.

“The CCG will be working closely with our partners across the local health economy to ensure that we continue to get the best value for every NHS pound we spend.”
