People will be able to make their homes more energy efficient with money secured from the government.

Harrow Borough Council has been given £1.3 million from Department of Energy and Climate Change to deliver Green Deal Communities Programme.

The project reduces the costs for people to upgrade their homes to make them more energy efficient by installing wall insulation, loft and cavity wall insulation and boilers.

People can now for money from the green deal fund from the council.

Cabinet member for housing Glen Hearnden said: “Insulating homes can be a hard and expensive task.

“I welcome this additional funding which will help homes become warmer and reduce energy bills as a result. This additional money will help to fund part of the insulation.

“By adding insulation you will notice a change in your energy bills. So I encourage people to take up this opportunity as we are already beginning to see harsher winter conditions.”
