An enterprising 80s film-lover will have Omnicorp executives quaking in their boots with his plan to recreate the murderous robot ED-209.

Surrey Comet:

Chris Fry, 34, is building a life-sized replica of the terrifying enforcer-turned-killer from the 1987 film, with the help of crowd funding.

Mr Fry, of Terrace Road, said: "I am keen to have people donate to the crowd funding page as building something like this is very expensive, I can fund it myself, but thought it would be cool to get people involved."

The project aims to deliver a nearly 8ft robot complete with both sound and motion.

Mr Fry has recreated movie props before, with previous efforts including two latex replicas of the Predator mask, a mask from Mars Attacks and a flux capacitor from Back to the Future.

He said: "I am dyslexic, so I have learning difficulties and many people just accept that and give up but I have an outlook of nothing is beyond me. I just need to find out how to do it."

This would be the only life-sized replica in the UK, and the fourth to be created in the world. Once created, Mr Fry intends to take ED-209 to various Comic-Con style events and exhibitions.

A few years ago, Mr Fry's mother died from leukemia. At the end of the project tour, he wants to sell ED-209 and donate the majority of the funds to Cancer Research.
