The leader of Richmond Council hopes the borough will stand united against the "threat" presented by Chelsea Football Club’s proposed temporary move to Twickenham stadium.
Though the council has no planned meetings with Chelsea FC, the proposed use of the stadium by the football club has not been ruled out by the club or the Rugby Football Union (RFU), and a petition gathered by North Twickenham councillors has gathered more than 1,000 signatures against the proposal.
Speaking at a council meeting on November 25, Lord True said the council must use all powers at its disposal to resist the move.
He said: "We face Russian money potentially with deep pockets and we need to leave the other side guessing.
"I hope we will stand united against this threat."
