A design company which works for some of the world's leading firms has been chosen as the best small business in Waltham Forest. 

Build, based in Hatherley Mews, Walthamstow, was founded in 2001 by creative director Michael C. Place and business director Nicky Place.

The company is ranked as one of the UK's top creative agencies, specialising in producing visual identities for customers whose clients include Nokia, Getty Images and Sony. 

The studio also runs an online outlet selling prints. 

The winners in the borough's Small Business Competition Winners were announced at the William Morris Gallery in Forest Road, Walthamstow. 

Ms Place said: "We are absolutely thrilled to win this year’s award.

"Waltham Forest is full of so many interesting businesses and more recently we’ve got to know many more great new faces. 

"As a studio with international clients we love working in, and championing Walthamstow as a place to live and work, and hopefully it will encourage others to see the area as a great place to flourish."

Retail winner ItDoesTheJob.com, run by Dee Wood at her 18th century Georgian home in Alymer Road, Leytonstone, was founded nine years ago as a family business with her father Dwight. 

The e-commerce company aims to help reduce emissions and energy bills through innovate sustainable energy products which are on show for customers to see at the 17-room house.
