A MAN who picked out and randomly stabbed two men sitting in their car has been jailed for 11 years.

Omar Sultani, 20, of Harrow, was found guilty at Harrow Crown Court today of two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He was sentenced to a total of 11 years.

The court heard how Sultani had been at Perivale car pound to collect his confiscated car. He was turned away by staff and left.

A short distance away, he approached the two victims as they sat talking in their car.

Without warning Sultani produced a large knife from the front of his trousers and began stabbing the first victim, the 20-year-old driver, in the chest.

He then proceeded to attack and stab the second victim - a 25-year-old passenger - in the rear of the car.

The first injured victim got out of his car and challenged Sultani, who ran away. The attack was completely unprovoked and neither victim was known to Sultani.

Despite his stab wounds, the driver managed to steer the car to hospital and was treated for a punctured lung and damage to his liver.

The second victim was treated for a stab wound to the leg and later discharged.

Ealing police were able to retrieve CCTV footage and the knife used in the attack.

Officers also searched Sultani's home and retrieved clothing covered in blood.

The recovery of these three bits of evidence helped officers build a substantial case against him.

Det Con Talat Taj, of Ealing CID, said: "This was a horrible and unprovoked attack on two men minding their own business.

“The victims have scars and tissue damage and both have shown incredible bravery throughout this investigation.”
