A pensioner had her leg broken following a violent burglary at her home in Walthamstow.

The 81-year-old was putting her cat out into the back garden when she was grabbed by two men, last Wednesday.

At around 7.15pm the woman was forced into her laundry room at the back of the house and tied up.

The victim was pushed to the ground and both her wrists and ankles were bound.

Cash was stolen by the duo after the house was raided.

They then locked the back door and left the woman on the floor.

By dragging herself through into her lounge the woman was able to call the police.

London Ambulance Service was called and she was taken to hospital for surgery.

DC Rob Wilmer is appealing for help to find the men.

He said: "As you can imagine this was very frightening and the victim has been left traumatised.

“The suspects violated this woman in her own home and did not care that as a result of their actions she was left with serious injuries. We are very keen to trace these men."

The attackers are described as aged between 20 and 30.

One is believed to be 6ft, with a dark hooded top and the other 5ft 7ins, with a woolly hat and a dark grey hooded top.

The victim was unable to establish the ethnicity of the attackers.

Councillor Alistair Strathern, of Higham Hill ward, said: “We are disgusted by this incident. Our thoughts are with the lady involved and her family and we wish her a speedy recovery.

“Higham Hill councillors are working closely with the local authorities to try to ensure these men are brought to justice.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area and has not yet come forward to do so.”
