Knitter extraordinaire Maureen Hawkins – better known as Grannie Mo – gathered together fellow churchgoers and Mothers’ Union members to hand over a stack of knitwear and blankets to a children’s charity.
The 77-year-old, who recently knitted her 1,000th blanket for Kingston Hospital’s Born Too Soon neo-natal charity, surprised organisers by donating a bundle of crocheted goods.
Pauline Woods, from Born Too Soon, thought she was just coming to give a talk, but also left St John the Baptist Church laden down with items for the charity.
The presentation was made at the Old Malden church in Vicerage Close on Tuesday, November 11.
