Members of Richmond Youth Theatre will bring CS Lewis’ classic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to life alongside professional actors.

Sophie Roadnight, Rosie Clark and Sam Brown from Teddington School and Kate Ashman and Jack Hardman from Grey Court School, were chosen to play the Pevensie children at the production at the Rose Theatre, Kingston, following a rigorous audition process.

Sophie, 14, plays Susan and said she is drawing upon some of her own character traits to help her with the role.

She said: "I think I can also be quite stubborn like Susan and the challenge is putting myself in her shoes and thinking about how she would deal with a situation and whether it would be different to me.

"Susan’s the eldest girl in the family and she wants to be taken seriously and look after her siblings.

"I never really expected to get the role. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it’s been amazing so far and I can’t wait to start the show."

Jack, also 14, plays Edmund and said he sees some of his character in himself.

He said: "Edmund loves a good book and is a bit of a nerd, and that’s how I see myself too.

"The play is fantastic and the songs are just amazing. The experience so far has been incredible."

The play runs from November 30 to January 4.
