A glittering Downton Abbey themed ball took people back to the 19th Century as they tried to raise money to save a mental health unit.

Child psychology charity Terapia, in Watford Way, Hendon, held the event to help restore The Bothy, a Grade Two-listed building in the gardens of Stephens House and Gardens, East Finchley.

The charity needs to raise £1m to bring the building back into use and provide a wide range of mental health services to the most vulnerable people in the community.

Guests at the event, held at Regents Banqueting Hall, in Finchley, were entertained by 1920s singer Linda Styan. Joanna David, the Duchess of Yeovil,  and the Mayor and Mayoress of Barnet were also the guests of honour.

Silent and Live auctions plus raffle and free gifts of Downton Abbey books also took place. Organisers are still counting the amount raised from the event.

People are also invited to visit The Bothy shop in High Road, North Finchley.
