A man was arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs after being stopped by police for speeding in Thamesmead on Saturday.
At around 8.05pm, officers stopped a silver VW Golf in Yarnton Way.
As the car stopped the driver was seen by police trying to hide a bag and was subsequently searched.
In the vehicle officers found white powder believed to be cocaine, two small bags of what officers believe to be MDMA, £700 cash and drug paraphernalia.
The 26-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.
He remains in a south-east London police station.
Thamesmead East Sergeant Luke Thomas said: "The residents of Thamesmead have concerns about drug abuse in the area. We have made it a priority to tackle this issue.
“We have made the residents a promise to be more visible and this has resulted in a lot of drugs taken off the street.”
