New figures show a hospital’s stroke unit is the best in the country.

In figures from Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme Northwick Park Hospital’s stroke unit is the best in England and Wales.

Between April and June 2014, 283 stroke patients were cared for by the hospital.

The data looks at the different stages of care received by patients the first sign of symptoms through to admission into hospital, the care they receive, discharge and rehabilitation.

Stroke physician Dr David Cohen said: “These scores are exceptional and reflect the commitment to excellence of our stroke team.

“We became a Hyper Acute Stroke Unit in 2010 and have worked hard to continue improving the care we provide including, for the past year, running a seven day a week stroke service.”
