The life of the late Bill Guy will be celebrated this evening.
Family and friends of Mr Guy, who died last week, have organised an evening of song, food and drink at Tottenham Chances, in the High Road, from 7pm.
A former athletics champion and racial equality campaigner, Mr Guy moved to Haringey in 1950.
He worked for organisations ranging from the Tottenham Labour Party, Unite, Unison, NPC, and Tottenham Police Consultative Group.
In 2008, Mr Guy was nominated an 'everyday hero' by the people of Tottenham for his work promoting racial equality.
