An engagement and wedding ring were among sentimental objects stolen in a burglary.

Police have asked anyone who may have seen or been offered jewellery matching the description of the stolen items to contact them.

The burglary happened between 5.50pm and 7.10pm on Sunday, October 19, in Claremont Avenue, Hersham.

A window was removed at the back of the house, before it was searched and jewellery and some cash was taken.

The jewellery includes a round silver mirror with an engraved message, a plain gold band wedding ring with a South African gold mark, a gold engagement ring with diamonds, an orb which turns into a cross, a brooch with a 'K' and aquamarine birthstone and a gold charm bracelet with a movable fish and clown.

The cash taken included a 10 shilling note encased in a cylinder, and a cube with a £1 note in it.

Detective Constable Andy Whittle, from North Surrey CID, said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen, heard or know anything relating to the burglary to contact us.

"The pane of glass which was removed from the property has not yet been located. It may have been discarded near to the scene and I urge all residents to notify police should they come across a discarded double-glazed window pane."
