UXBRIDGE’S largest employer has made a multi-million pound pledge to help tackle cancer.
American pharmaceutical giant Bristol-Myers Squibb, which has its UK base in Uxbridge Business Park, Sanderson Road, is promising to donate £6.2m to the charity Stand Up to Cancer.
Uxbridge staff topped-up the company’s pledge by raising £1,000 on a sponsored walk last week.
Fifty of them walked a 1.5 mile loop around the town.
Johanna Mercier, general manager of Bristol-Myers Squibb UK and Ireland, said: “We are proud of the efforts demonstrated by the team in Uxbridge.”
Stand Up to Cancer was founded in 2008, with the aim of revolutionising cancer treatment and research.
