A mystery Biggin Hill resident has caused a stir amongst cyclists this week with a public signpost branding them “lycra louts”.

The unknown villager has gone to the trouble of pinning a notice to a telegraph pole informing cycling clubs that they are not welcome in the area.

The person responsible claims cyclists are blocking the roads and polluting the countryside with their orange plastic route markers.

Cyclist Tony Rivers discovered the sign at the top of Westerham Hill on Thursday (October 16).

The 29-year-old, of Imperial Way in Chislehurst, said he could not help but laugh when he saw someone had accused cyclists of causing pollution.

Mr Rivers posted a photo of the sign on Twitter, which has been retweeted more than 160 times.

He said: “I couldn’t believe it when my phone started to go crazy with retweets. I could not believe the attention the post has received from cyclists and non-cyclists alike.”
