A Welling man and UKIP advocate was left red faced when he was unable to name a single thing the party stand for during an embarrassing radio call-in.

'Jack from Welling' called James O'Brien's Leading Britain's Conversation (LBC) radio show on Friday (October 10) to address the call-in topic 'what do UKIP stand for'.

However, rather than providing an adequate answer, he was left flummoxed and floundering.

In between a series of awkward pauses Jack produced some meaningless rhetoric about immigration, with "loads of things" the best response he could give.

UKIP have enjoyed plenty of success recently, with Douglas Carswell becoming their first elected MP last week, but it is concerning when the party's passionate supporters seem so unaware of broader policy.

Party leader Nigel Farage, who lives in Downe, also endured an uncomfortable interview with James O'Brien on LBC earlier this year, when he was asked to justify claims he feels "uncomfortable" and "awkward" because he could hear no English being spoken while on a Southeastern train from London to Kent.

Jack's struggles: Passages from the call-in

James O'Brien: What do they stand for, Jack?

Jack: They stand for everything the majority of the country have on their minds, James

J O'B: Go on

Jack: For some reason you don't understand...

J O'B: Go on

Jack: Well...(pause) immigration obviously

J O'B: They don't stand for immigration do they Jack, we're trying to work out what they stand for, we know what they're against, what are they for?

Jack: Well they're for the fact of the, erm... Well they're, they're listening to what people want

J O'B: What are they for Jack?

Jack: (long pause) Loads of things, James

J O'B: Go on then

Jack: (pause) Well, tell me what they're against?

J O'B: I already have, now tell me what they're for

Not for lack of trying, Jack's troubles continue...

J O'B: What is in the manifesto?

Jack: There's too much to list right now

J O'B: Just give me your favourites Jacko, come on

Jack: Well, the fact of open door immigration will...

J O'B: No, no, we know what they're against Jack, what are they for?

Jack: But, hold on a minute, that is the main question on everyone's lips at he moment is immigration because it is destroying the country

J O'B: I'll ask you again...

Jack: Too much of it is destroying the country

J O'B: I'll ask you again, what are they for?
