The mayor and 180 pupils celebrated the opening of the newest building at Long Ditton St Mary's Junior School.
With blue skies and the anticipation of a unique triathlon in the air, the ribbon was cut by Councillor Barry Fairbank, mayor of Elmbridge, after a full school assembly in front of the new pavillion building on Friday, October 3.
Headteacher David Gumbrell said: "We have been looking to expand the school for almost four years now so we are very pleased to have finally achieved that."
Following the assembly, the pupils continued the merriment by taking part in a triathlon that consisted of scooter-ing, skipping and space hopping, instead of the usual swim, bike and run, and raised £500.
