A young woman has been arrested in connection with an alleged attempted abduction of a child outside a Gravesend primary school - but police have concluded that no crime took place.
Police were called to Whitehill Primary School in Sun Lane at just before 3.40pm yesterday afternoon to reports a woman took the hand of a child who wasn’t hers and started to walk away.
The mother of the child took her child back and left.
A 21-year-old woman was later arrested but released without charge after investigating officers determined that no crime took place.
Gravesham district commander Chief Inspector Simon Alland said: "While I understand this caused concern to our local community, we have spoken to this woman and are satisfied there was nothing sinister in her intentions.
"She has been given advice regarding how her behaviour could be perceived and officers have been on hand to reassure residents."
