Residents of Waltham Forest are on high alert after a menacing extraterrestrial cyborg was spotted roaming the streets.
In search of ‘The Doctor’, the Highams Park Dalek has been seen threatening children, walkers and even dogs with extermination.
(
Crowds have been gathering to capture the alien on camera, some even getting close enough to touch it.
However, the man behind the machine has assured everyone there is no real threat to the human race.
Steve Herbert, of Coolgardie Avenue, built the remote control dalek using an electric wheelchair after seeing a similar home-made creation online.
The 49-year-old electronics enthusiast said: “I quite like the thought of people seeing a dalek roll by their house and think, ‘what on earth is going on?’.
“I had seen some Youtube videos of one that was up north and I thought it was great so I saw a shell for sale and I bought it.
“It’s been a lot of fun. People have been slowing down cars and shouting ‘exterminate’ out of the window.
“Loads of people want to stop for pictures. I am hoping that I can use it to collect money for charity.”
