A fitness fanatic is calling on breast cancer suffers to take part in exercise ahead of an awareness month.

Mary Huckle, of Bush Hill Park, was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007.

After channelling her career as a personal trainer into making a recovery, the 49-year-old has now suffered a relapse and has more surgery.

However, undeterred by her upcoming radiotherapy, Ms Huckle told the Enfield Independent that she will continue to run as many of her classes as possible.

She said: “It gives a lot of people confidence when they exercise and I will be doing as many classes as I can to keep going.

“I realise it won’t be easy because side effects from the therapy can be fatigue.”

Ms Huckle's fitness classes and personal training sessions are open to all, but in the past few years several women who have suffered from breast cancer have taken up the classes.

With breast cancer awareness month taking place in October, Ms Huckle is keen to call on all women to get involved in exercising and raise its importance.

She added: “Because of the surgery that takes place, pilates is one of the most vital and helpful activities women can take part in. It really helps to get all your muscles moving again without intense work.

“Everyone is my classes have been so supportive of me and it is very overwhelming. I will try to continue my five classes per week as well as my personal training sessions.”
