Gatwick had its busiest-ever month in August, with nearly 4.36 million people passing through the West Sussex airport.
Last month's total was 8.2% up on the August 2013 figure and included a one-day record of 906 flights on Friday August 29.
Passenger numbers on European scheduled services, which make up the bulk of Gatwick's operation, rose 13.2% last month compared with August 2013, while North Atlantic traffic was up 3.8% and other long-haul traffic was up 14.0%.
Irish traffic remained steady, but there were dips in UK flight numbers (down 4.8%) and in European charter-flight traffic (down 3.0%).
