A Lewisham Hospital nurse who was a self-confessed fan of ‘big bottoms’ has been suspended for 18 months for alleged misconduct including pulling down a colleague’s skirt.

Vusi Nkosi, who has worked on the hospital’s gynaecological and orthopaedic ward since May 2008, was verbally aggressive to other members of staff – calling one nurse a ‘brainless cow’, refused to collect post-operative patients and told another colleague he was willing to be her toyboy, a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) tribunal heard.

The NMC was also told how Nkosi, who did not attend the five-day hearing, told one female co-worker he “knew what was good for her”.

The NMC’s Victoria Hale explained: “Colleague A was dealing with a bank nurse who had to leave her shift early. This then led to the registrant and Colleague A exchanging words at the nursing station.

“He is said to have shouted ‘you are a lazy cow, you’re a f****** brainless idiot’.

“Later the registrant told Colleague A that he knew what she was missing and was willing to be her toyboy.”

On another occasion with the same colleague, Nkosi allegedly said he could imagine his ‘thing’ in between her bottom and grabbed another female colleague’s wrists.

It was also claimed Nkosi would refuse to collect post-operative patients from theatre if he felt he had too much paperwork to do, which would subsequently delay handover by up to three hours.

The panel concluded Nkosi’s conduct breached nursing standards, caused distress to Colleague A and his failures to comply with colleague requests put patients at risk of harm.
