A Chessington schoolgirl was approached by a man who tried to lure her away from her parent, her school has said.
The girl, a pupil at St Mary's School in Church Lane, was approached by a young man on Wednesday evening at about 6pm near Churchfields.
She told her parents, who reported the attempted abduction to police.
Headteacher Linda Rainbow said in a letter to parents that all children at St Mary's had been told how to deal with "stranger danger" after the attempt.
Kingston police said the girl was unharmed.
A spokeswoman said the force would not release further details.
