A mother stabbed to death inside her Walthamstow flat on Monday has been formally identified by police.

Leighann Duffy, 26, of Hatherley House in Hatherley Road, sustained knife wounds to her neck and arm after being attacked shortly before 3pm inside her second-storey apartment.

A post-mortem examination, held yesterday at Walthamstow Mortuary, confirmed the mother-of-one died of a stab wound.

Her six-year-old daughter received treatment at the scene for a minor injury but did not attend hospital.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command continue to appeal for information as no arrests have been made.

They believe Ms Duffy knew her attacker but say the motive remains unclear.
