London taxi drivers to 'go slow' in Boris Johnson protest

First published in News by

London taxi drivers plan to bring the capital to a halt next week in a ‘go slow’ protest over an unpopular pollution measure.

They are protesting against the Taxi Age Limit, implemented by Mayor of London Boris Johnson to tackle pollution levels by scrapping older taxis.

The Mayor is due to appear before the Environmental Audit Committee on September 10 to explain why he implemented the limit.

In 2013, research carried out by the Environmental Research Group tested 10,000 taxis, confirming that the new vehicles were contributing more to pollution than the older ones that had been scrapped.

Cabbies Against Boris urge drivers of other trade organisations to support the protest, by ‘going slow’ in central London at 2pm next Tuesday.

The group said: “Why has the mayor needlessly scrapped 3,000 taxis and why does he continue with this improper policy of scrapping taxis which are cleaner than the new taxis?’’

When will people wake up to the fact that global warming is a hoax, a con. We had more carbon in the atmosphere years ago. The reason temperatures rise and fall is something to do with jesus, the big yellow thing in the sky. It has cycles and affect's all the planet's with what it gives off and sometimes with what it doesn't give off. I do laugh at the "cut pollution" but yet no one is talking about the toxic spillage from japan. Our waters are so toxic that london and it's pollution problem is nothing to what lies in the ocean. Just another way for corporations to make more money off the backs of slaves.

But even if global warning was a hoax (not a debate I'm going to get into), cutting pollution is surely still a good thing. People with asthma for example, can suffer health problems when in a crowded London street with fumes pumping out everywhere. If those emissions can be cut, it's got to be a good thing.

Cutting pollution? No......... you miss the point. It's not about pollution it's about changing London. The old has to make way for the new. They are trying to bring in a whole new taxi service and do away with the black cab.

Also the black cab earns alot of money, the system don't want people earning that kind of money. Destroying the middle classes is the goal.

Why did the black cabs go on protest last year (think it was) because new drivers were coming in not doing the knowledge and thus the black cab gets shoved aside.

Cutting pollution, don't make me laugh.

Oh Boris.

Any motor vehicles has the greatest impact on the environment at two points in its life - not when it's being driven, but when it's made and when it's scrapped.

It's in the cabbies' own interests to drive cars that are fuel efficient and to keep their vehicles running properly to do this, they don't need the state to order them to do this. Stop listening to the eco-fascists and the vested interests among the manufacturers.

One the other hand, cabbies, you can't have it both ways - you want the state to protect your own vested interests against Uber, but don't want to be ordered about by the same people when it doesn't suit you!

The sun brings gives light and warmth to all life on Earth, but it has a temper too. Solar flares, eruptions and other sun storms can have serious effects to satellites and other systems around or on Earth.

Take a look at some of the worst solar storms known to humanity.

And pollution is to blame for the sun doing what it does?

Oh no the ice is melting, MAYBE just MAYBE it's the sun/son of god.

On the subject, the word "zion" is the same as sion which means sun but we humans believe it as 'son' of god, it is sun of god, the yellow thing brings life to planet earth.
