A “marvellous” summer scheme drew to a close as children prepare to go back to school after the long break.

The Broadwalk Centre, in Station Road, Edgware, held a free four-week programme every Monday which included a circus workshop, as well as art and drama activities.

Known as ‘Marvellous Mondays’, it was designed to help ease the financial pressure on parents during the school break.

The first event kicked off in style with an entertainer who taught the children skills ranging from juggling and stilt walking to model ballooning and how to ride a unicycle.

They were also taught how to spin plates, walk on stilts, juggle and were given the chance to ride around on miniature bikes.

Children were also shown how to make hand puppets and test their acting skills in the puppet theatre booth.

The last event saw people participate in a sand art workshop.

Broadwalk centre manager Angela Brooks said: “We were thrilled by the turn out over the last four weeks. Both parents and children thoroughly enjoyed all the activities that we had on offer.

“The summer holidays are expensive for all of us and our Marvellous Monday activities were a fantastic and free way for parents to keep the children entertained while also learning new and exciting skills.”
