A woman is fighting for her life after being stabbed in an attack which also left a six-year-old child injured.

Police were called at 3.05pm yesterday to reports of a woman stabbed at a residential property in Hatherley Road.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a 26-year-old woman suffering from stab wounds to her arm and neck.

The woman was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

A six-year-old child at the address received treatment at the scene for a minor injury and did not attend hospital.

No arrests have been made.

Detective Chief Iinspector Philip Langworthy, of Waltham Forest CID, said: "We are investigating a serious assault on a young woman.

"The motive remains unclear at this stage but we do not believe this is a random attack.

"People living and working nearby may have seen something that could be of vital importance to investigators.

"I would urge anyone with information to contact Waltham Forest CID on 07785 530 686, 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111."

Some people have sympathy and respect of course but want the police to stop saying everything is rosy in the Borough and accept that crime is rife, otherwise they lull people into a false sense of security.

Victor Vilagecranberry Meldrew such a negative, sarcastic and bombastic person.
A 26 year old woman stabbed in her home and a 6 year old child bless them how sad. No one is getting a false sense of security and check statistics from previous years YES crime has fallen. Spurs Supporter and Arsenal Red I totally agree with your comments if Villagecranberry cannot put a half decent comment in that's worth reading he/she shouldn't, we all have our right to comment but when someone's life is in the balance please have a bit of respect if the rest of the family that may read it !

There you go, believing false crime statistics again, tge police have even admitted to fiddling the statistics.

Who suggests I have no sympathy for the victims?

I reiterate, of course I feel complete empathy and rather much so because of the lawlessness in the borough.
