A ‘mysterious’ expansion of a natural play space will officially open next week with brand climbing equipment and learning opportunities for children in Waltham Forest.

The Lloyd Park Centre in Walthamstow which has regular activities for young people and hosts outreach and drop-in centres opened its Grow Wild space in 2011.

In the natural play space children can enjoy the elements by playing in tunnels and discovering insect habitats.

Now, the official opening date for phase two has been announced.

An extra storey has been added to the park with climbing structures and walkways that lead to a story den, slide and a music-making space.

Pauline Thomas, Chief Executive at The Lloyd Park Centre said that the second phase of the park build has been kept a ‘mystery’ until now.

The official opening will be between 3pm and 5pm on September 6.

Due to the need to staff the Grow Wild space, it will initially be available at specified times only.
