A 51-year-old motorcyclist from Weybridge died after crashing into the roadside barrier yesterday afternoon.

The man was riding up the A20 Wrotham Hill, Kent at 3.45pm on a red Honda 1,000cc Fireblade motorcycle, with a second motorcycle travelling some distance in front of him.

As it approached a right hand bend in the road, where the A20 crosses the M20, the bike and rider crashed into the barrier.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "Despite prolonged attempts by ambulance and fire service personnel to resuscitate him, the 51-year-old male rider from Surrey was declared dead at the scene just after 4.30pm."

The police are particularly trying to trace the owners of a large horse transportation vehicle being driven on the road at that time, who may have been overtaken by the two motorcycles before the crash.

Witnesses who may have seen the two motorcycles along the A20 can call Kent Police on 01622 798538.
