Remorseless men laughed at a teenage girl during a “nasty” unprovoked attack in the street last week.

Two men walked up behind a 16-year-old as she went down Upper High Street towards Alexandra Road, Epsom, between 11.40 and 11.50am on Thursday, August 21.

The attackers asked what she had on her but she kept ignoring them so they pushed her to the ground.

Afterwards, the men laughed at the teenager left with cuts to her face, hands and knees. But then cars started to drive past and they ran off in panic.

The white men, about 20 years old, had average builds, what police described as local accents and wore dark or grey tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Constable Kirsty Webb said: "This was a nasty and unprovoked attack which left the teenage victim shaken.

"The two men showed no remorse for what they had done by laughing at the girl afterwards before approaching cars made them panic and run off.

"I would urge anybody who was driving along that road at the time to get in touch with any information you have.”

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting the reference number 45140070553.

"police described as local accents"

So what they are really saying is they were not Eastern European? which is the biggest problem faced by British Policing in all Boroughs.

Somebody must know the identity of these scumbags. If you do, then please come forward.

I have been campaigning against chavs and scum on our streets for a long time. These people need to be punished for their crimes.

Ban tracksuits, chavs and scumbags from Epsom town centre. This infuriates me.

This is ridiculous! its 2014. With all the technology coming out there should be cameras to pick these people up.

Police in Epsom are also useless when i reported a crime a few years back about a robbery at a house where there is a street camera outside they didnt pick up anything then later on tried to blame it on me.

Makes me sick.

Surrey Police are more than likely using some of the other Borough policing. What they will do is ignore serious crime because its really hard to solve and stick to solving the easy stuff like parking issues, shoplifters etc.

That way when the publish the stats on crime it looks like they are exceeding targets and the local residents will be happy at next voting for the new commissioners.

I was told this be an officer working at an inner london station as what they were told to do - spent more of their time on the "easy win" arrests.

Losers. Picking on a girl. What next? Stealing lollipops from primary school students. Pick on a real bloke or scurry back to your ugly council estates.

That area is pretty scary. I dread walking past co-op and the cinema in the evenings. I've frequently been shouted at or had people standing still outside coop suddenly yell 'boo' while I'm walking past just to make you jump or guys yelling obscene remarks from the other side of the road. They think its funny but its really intimidating and you never know if its going to be a more serious attack.

I've never seen a police presence there and I'm very conscious about where CCTV cameras are and try to make myself known to them when walking home alone at night but there is no 'safe' side to that road. You can't even cross at the pedestrian crossing without fear of breaking an ankle in that pothole!

I usually feel safe in the town centre, but there's something about the area by the cinema that scares me. I'm usually only there in the evenings (after seeing a film etc), and it's not very well lit. I always rush back to the car, checking behind me as I go. And that's even when I'm with my husband! :-(

EwellMan, in my experience I have found Eastern European neighbours and people we've had decorate our house to be extremely friendly, intelligent and hard working. Furthermore, one of the ladies in Costa Coffee, Cheam is from Slovakia and is probably the bubbliest barista you'll ever meet.

Every single time I've witnessed anti-social behaviour in Epsom or Kingston, or been the victim of anti-social behaviour, the culprits have been white British working class.

Regarding this case, I agree that the attackers are repulsive thugs who ought to spend a week or two in prison.
