Former mayor of Elmbridge has donated the funds that had been raised during his year in office.

Councillor Mike Bennison, mayor for 2013-14, presented Riding for the Disabled with a cheque for £25,450.

The money, handed over on August 14, had been raised throughout the year by holding events including a Ladies' Luncheon and a Black & White Ball, raffles and donations from the community and businesses.

Coun Bennison said: "My wife, Mary and I, chose this wonderful charity to support during my mayoral year 2013-14 having been inspired by the Paralympics and we hoped to be able to continue the spirit and legacy of the games."
