TWO public exhibitions of plans for the area around Ealing Broadway station, due be to be transformed by completion of Crossrail, will be held by the council.

The exhibitions next week will give people a chance to comment on ideas for the station, which will be modified as part of the plan to improve Ealing town centre.

The two sessions will be from 4-8pm on Tuesday and Thursday, September 2 and 4 at the station forecourt on Haven Green. Picture boards will help people to understand the improvements to be delivered once Crossrail work inside the station is finished at the end of 2016.

There will be a wider crossing area for pedestrians between the forecourt and Haven Green, new pick-up and drop-off points, better cycle links and an enlarged bus shelter outside the station. The forecourt will become a pedestrianised area with upgraded lighting, seating and potential for features such as artwork and a café.

Visitors will have an opportunity to ask questions about the proposals and will be invited to complete a questionnaire at each session.

Feedback will be used to help develop the plans.

Council leader Julian Bell said: “It’s very important that we use the arrival of Crossrail as an opportunity to improve the public space outside the station, to make it attractive and easier for passengers to use.

“The proposals aim to enhance the character of central Ealing, improving links for pedestrians and cyclists and access to Haven Green.

“We want to hear from residents before we develop these proposals further.”

A Crossrail representative will also be available at the consultations to answer questions.
