Michael Laikin also valued heirlooms and antiques brought along by guests and residents at Sunrise of Banstead, in Croydon Lane, Banstead, on Wednesday.

Nathalie McLeish, director of community relations at the home, said: "It was a real treat to welcome Michael, he’s quite the raconteur and he had some riveting stories from his life in antiques.

"A lot of the guests were pleasantly surprised at the true value of their dusty heirlooms, and I’m sure we’ll all be searching under the bed for more before his next visit."
