A rapper and spoken word artist has started a conversation about war with a new documentary released as part of the WWI centenary commemorations.

Potent Whisper, whose real name is Georgie Stephanou, has released the second in a two-part project online which features interviews with a number of people answering questions posed in the first film released in June.

Mr Stephanou, 25, of the Wandle Valley Estate in Mitcham, said he wanted to get people talking about war.

He said: "I was quite aware there will be four years of commemorations of WWI and I have seen a lot of propaganda glorifying war.

"We should be taking time to reflect and commemorate people who gave their lives."

The project has been supported by the Stop the War Coalition and the No Glory Campaign and has already attracted 3,533 hits in one week.

The first film, a single from a forthcoming album, has attracted nearly 8,000 hits.

The first film of the project by the Brit School graduate took the form of a song called Just Wondering, which posed 40 war-related questions to listeners.

The second film sought to answer those questions in a series of interviews, one of which with MP Jeremy Corbyn.

A youth worker in Brixton by day, Mr Stephanou said: "I’m not a member of a political party, I believe in peace and love.

"The film has created a lot of discussion and I am happy with that."

The single Just Wondering is taken from a forthcoming project entitled Love: The Mixtape, which is due for release later this year.
