Vibe’s Katherine Brennan picked out five things to see and do if you’ve got time to spend in Catford.

A Quick Drink

News Shopper:

Catford Constitutional Club recently moved from Catford Bridge closer to the centre - it’s a bit harder to find but worth the search. Reasonably priced drinks, lovely food, and if you happen to be there on a Tuesday evening there’s even a pub quiz.

Sapporo Ichiban

News Shopper:

A few doors down is Sapporos. This small Japanese restaurant is great for eating out somewhere a bit different. You can try out a Kotatsu-style table while you’re eating if you feeling like soaking up some Asian culture. For those new to Japanese cuisine, you can order some ‘sushi sandwiches’ – a mix of Japanese and Western foods to ease you in.

Feel like indulging?

News Shopper:

Giant Chocoholic American Waffle, sound tempting? There’s a new dessert house called Kapsas near the station. If you don’t fancy going all out they can make you a milkshake from a chocolate bar of your choice. Fruit smoothies are also on the menu, so it’s an all around good place to visit if you’re peckish.

Ladywell Fields

News Shopper:

Ladywell Fields is a huge park. Great for a casual stroll and has a skate park, tennis courts and a nature trail to preoccupy the kids with. There are stations at both ends of the park so if your travelling is becoming a bit tedious then just stroll to the next station.

For something a bit more lively

News Shopper:

The club Riva is in Catford centre. It’s an attractive bar that is usually swarming with people in the evenings. It has a nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and is very popular with the locals.
