A bar and restaurant withdrew a bid to stay open until 3am at the weekend following objections from police and residents.

042 in Leytonstone High Road, which was recently given a warning by police over licensing hours breaches, applied to serve alcohol until 3am on Friday and Saturday.

It is currently licensed to serve alcohol between 10am and midnight, Monday to Saturday, and until 11.30pm each Sunday.

Walter Okwudili-Chukwu Ojukwu, the designated premises supervisor, initially assured the committee bar would comply with all regulations and try to ensure that noise is kept to a minimum when customers leave the venue.

But the application was later withdrawn after police revealed previous breaches of permitted opening hours and warned more could occur.

Bushwood Area Residents’ Association, which represents almost 500 households, also objected, saying another late-night venue is not needed in the area.

The application was amended by the owners and the council granted permission for music only during normal opening hours.

The business is owned by Suba Choudhury, from Walthamstow, and Jobed Ali, from Woodford Green.
