A mystery movie event, artists’ party and a space for creativity are all part of this year’s Merton Arts Trail.

Winner of the Wimbledon Guardian’s Merton Civic Award for Arts and Entertainment, the series of events will take place at the end of September.

Organisers promise the event will be ‘bigger, bolder and brighter’ than last year.

As part of the Merton Arts Trail there will be a mystery movie evening held at an undisclosed location in the borough on Saturday, September 20.

It promises to be somewhere atmospheric to match the film being shown on the night.

For the first time this year there will be The Hub, an informal space where members of the public and the artists can meet at the Wimbledon Library. The Hub will provide members of the public with the chance to find out more about the trail and to mix with the artists.

An artists’ party event will take place on Friday, September 19, from 7pm at the Alexandra pub in Wimbledon Hill Road.

The mayor of Merton, Councillor Agatha Akyigyina will be among the guests to mingle with organisers and artists. There will also be exhibitions at a Wimbledon Common open day.

Chrissie Craig, co-founder of the festival, said: "This year is real a game changer for the Arts Trail and we are thrilled with how things are developing from our mystery movie evening, to the launch of the Hub and the artists’ party.

"We look forward to welcoming the public from September 20 onwards."

Merton Arts Trail will be held from Saturday, September 20 to Sunday, September 28. Visit the website for information and to purchase tickets.
