Ex-Manchester United and England footballer Rio Ferdinand was spotted by stunned shoppers in Tesco in Orpington on Wednesday evening (August 13).

The sturdy centre back visited the Augustus Lane store for an evening shop at around 7pm.

It is thought he has moved to the Farnborough Park area following his summer transfer to QPR.

On Twitter, Ollie Learmouth said: "Not every day @rioferdy5 turns up to tescos in Orpington."

Adam Smith Sr said: "The one time I go out without my phone and @rioferdy5 is in Orpington Tesco. Great."

Hannah Davies added: "Totally just got smiled at then followed out of the car park and home from Tesco Orpington by @rioferdy5! #casual Shame I was minus makeup."

Meanwhile Matt Hall said: "Hearing @rioferdy5 was in Orpington Tesco tonight. Gutted I wasn't there! #Legend."

wow the guy was doing his shopping - like everyone else. Celebs DO eat and do need to go out and buy food - although i would have thought waitrose or sainsburys might have been more his style. If i took a photo of every celeb i had spoken to/worked with etc id have a massive photo album - they are normal people but just in the spot light - ok so yup they earn far more than the average person - well some of them. When you work in the theatre a celeb is no different than talking to someone you work with

I get this reaction all the time whilst out doing my grocery shopping. It just goes with the territory. I take the fame all in my stride though, it's how I roll.

Just don't tread on my old dealer boots please.

Spot on white rabbit9, totally agree. paid an obscene amount for kicking a ball about, while the fans can barely afford to support them. World gone mad, priorities all wrong

Not sure why my comments are being removed?

Perhaps something to do with the newsshopper allowing Elthamboy's 'FBC' racist comment to sit on here for two days knowing full well what it means and I'm highlighting that fact.
