Police have renewed an appeal to find a man who strangled a woman and threatened to stab her before raping her in a park.

The attack took place in Chestnuts Park, off St Ann’s Road, Haringey, two years ago – but detectives have today released CCTV footage of a man they would like to speak to.

The photos were taken outside a shop in Green Lanes, which show a man speaking to the victim moments before she was attacked on September 9, 2012 between 2am and 4am.

The victim, a sex worker in her late 40s, approached him on Green Lanes to offer him business so he asked to go somewhere more secluded.

They walked to Chestnuts Park where he forced her to the floor and strangled her until she passed out.

After she had regained consciousness, he threatened to stab her and she set off her rape alarm.

He then dragged her along by her hair before taking her rape alarm away from her.

He then sexually assaulted and raped the woman and ran off.

The man is described as black, about 5ft 8in tall, of medium build, with short afro hair and a London accent. He is in his 20s, with hamster-like cheeks, a round face, prominent cheek bones and elongated front teeth. He is believed to have been wearing jeans.
