Sutton train station has been nominated for an award in recognition of high standards in customer service.

The borough will go toe-to-toe with Barnham and Bognor Regis in the Best Large Station category at Southern Rail’s Stars and Tsars Awards.

A £1.3million revamp of Sutton station was completed in March, bringing an extension, new barriers, ticket machines, and CCTV to the site.

Work is also underway to upgrade the station’s walkway, improving access to the nearby Quadrant House and the rear of the complex.

Sutton station welcomes almost six million passengers a year and is one of the 18 most congested in London.

The judging panel includes passengers, Southern managers, and a winner from the previous year’s awards.

The winner of each category will be announced at a ceremony on Tuesday, August 19.
