Roads in Esher have reopened after an accident involving a lorry and motorcycle this morning. 

The accident, between a white dropside lorry and a Honda motorycle, happened shortly after 8am near Sandown Park racecourse, Portsmouth Road.

The road and nearby Station Road were closed until just before 11.30sm while emergency services attended.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said: "At just after 8am, we were called to Portsmouth Road at the junction with Littleworth Common Road to a collision involving a motorcyclist.

"We sent two ambulances and three cars to the scene and we assigned the air ambulance to attend.

"The patient was treated at the scene for injuries including wrist and hip before being taken by road to St George's Hospital."

The ambulance service spokesman said the man, who was reported to be in his 20s, was conscious at the scene and was taken to hospital as a priority.

After the accident, Elmbridge police told drivers to avoid the area.

 

Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses to the accident to come forward with information. Anyone who can help should call 101, quoting reference P14233772.
