An elderly man had his life savings taken from him during a robbery in Muswell Hill.

The victim had just withdrawn a large sum of cash at a bank in Muswell Hill Broadway, and was walking back to meet his son at their car in Princes Avenue. As he was helped into the car, two men stopped and asked for the time.

A struggle followed, and the victim’s 47-year-old son was punched in the face. The two men then made off with a carrier bag containing the victim’s cash.

They were last seen running down Avenue Mews into Queens Avenue before disappearing from sight. Haringey Police has now issued CCTV images of two men they wish to speak to in connection with the incident, which took place at 11.10am on Monday, July 28.

The first man is described as a black male in his early twenties, around 6ft tall and of large build. He was clean shaven and wearing a grey hoodie.

The second man is described as a light skinned black male with freckles on his face. He is in his early twenties and approximately 5ft 9in or 5ft 10ins tall.

Detective Constable Ben Cousin of Haringey CID said: "We are aware that this incident was witnessed by several people and appeal for them to come forward and speak to us. We would ask the public to look at the descriptions of the two men and ask anyone who may be able to identify them to call police.”
