Bicycles decorated in the colours of Commonwealth countries will be displayed around the borough as the Ride London event graces the streets this weekend.

Community groups including Cobham Day Centre, Riverhouse Arts Centre and the 1st Weston Green Guides used their imaginations to help spruce up the bicycles, each picking a nation to help base their transformation on.

Pupils from Long Ditton St Mary’s Junior School, Thames Ditton Infants School, Manby Lodge Infant School and St Matthews Church of England Infant School also helped to decorate four bicycles, which have been placed at the Scilly Isles and Weybridge station.

Councillor Mary Sheldon, portfolio holder for leisure and culture, said: "The flower bikes were a great success in the Olympic year and I am delighted that this year, community groups and schools have been inspired by the Commonwealth Games to put their mark on this momentous event."
