A garden of a home in Hersham was subjected to a suspected arson attack on Monday.

The fire started in undergrowth in the alleyway in Molesey Road, opposite Arch Road, at about 8pm on August 4, before spreading and causing damage to a garden fence and foliage.

In a post on Facebook, a resident said she believed two youths deliberately torched the undergrowth and that the house suffered smoke damage.

No one was hurt in the fire.

Police and firefighters said the incident was being treated as suspicious.

Anyone who witnesses the fire or anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference 45140065253, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
