HILLINGDON-born golfer Annabel Dimmock is looking to lay the foundations for future success when she travels to Nanjing for the Youth Olympic Games.

The 17-year-old has already enjoyed a year to remember, by winning the Jones Doherty Cup in America in January, before following it up with success at the Helen Holm Scottish Open Strokeplay Championship at Royal Troon in April.

She could cap it off in even more impressive style after being selected as one of 33 athletes to represent Team GB at the second summer Youth Olympic Games, beginning in Nanjing on August 16.

However, Annabel, who is now based in Sunninghill, is not about to get ahead of herself.

While she is adamant she will be doing all she can to return with a medal, the teenager is more concerned with soaking up every second as she begins her Olympic journey.

“The Youth Olympic Games is something I have been thinking about from the start of the season, so it is amazing to be selected for the team,” said Annabel, a member of Wentworth Golf Club.

“When I won in America at the start of the year, it gave me confidence to have a good year.

“I have never played golf in China so I can’t wait to experience that.”

She is no stranger to representing her country, having just returned from the Curtis Cup, where she was unable to prevent Team GB from falling to a 13-7 defeat to America.
