Readers have given a thumbs down to whether Harrow Borough Council should reintroduce the role of chief executive.

Last week the Harrow Times gave the people of Harrow the chance to have their say about the possible reinstating of the council chief executive in an online poll.

A total of 66 per cent, were against the role coming back to the council while 27 per cent in favour of the idea.

The remaining seven per cent chose the ‘don’t know’ option.

In July the new Labour administration announced a consultation among council staff, unions and councillors about bringing back the role.

In last week’s edition, leaders of the two main political parties at the council put forward their arguments on the position which can be read.

Conservative leader Susan Hall’s comments can be read here and Leader for the council David Perry’s view can be read here.

The role of chief executive, which paid an annual salary of £183,097, was scrapped in November last year by the then Conservative administration as a cost cutting measure.

Please take note David Perry.......no to a new Chief Executive! You have to save money and this was a good start by Susan Hall.

If David Perry goes ahead and appoints a chief executive he will have annoyed the 66% of those who said no to the chief executive. He will be seen to be disregarding the wishes of residents.

Maybe a Chief executive is what the people of Harrow really need, because who knows what Harrowcouncil are managing to achieve with the residenst council tax money ??
Besides the glossy mags they pump[ out through residents letter boxes (must cost a fortune) full of trumped claims of success and fairness - when this is just not the case....
Take the example that has been posted recently on here of our experience of the morally and humanely bankrupt Harrow Council dealing with legitimate decent taxpayers and residents of Harrow.

Well we have to say Harrow council are a total disgrace and law unto themselves when it comes to helping British citizens struggling with homelessness in Harrow.
We have been left to rot in a small cramped single room for over a year by Harrow council who will not help us presumably out of spite for seeking help according to the law from Harrow Council.
As taxpayers for all our working life how can Harrow council get away with punishing homeless Harrow and British people for speaking up for themselves..??
So its worse than leaving people in temporary accomodation by Harrow council God help you if you ever need any help from Harrow Council because our experience is they are the most devious and corrupt bunch of people we have ever come across.

John and Linda and family (on a low income and having lost their previous home through no fault of their own due to hooliganism and race hate crime) - Homeless in Harrow for ove a year without any help according to the law from Harrow council whatsoever except deliberate and vindictive hindrance to allow us to help ourselves according to the law.
